How D3™ technology works
D3™ is a hybrid semi-conductor detection system based on the use of a detector substrate bonded to a detection circuit – ASIC. The top substrate can be manufactured from a wide range of materials but typically uses Cadmium Telluride (CdTe), Cadmium Zinc Telluride (CdZnTe) or depleted Silicon (Si). The choice of material is governed by the customer’s requirement.
This top substrate is bonded on to a lower one, a CMOS ASIC. The ASIC can be designed and tuned to perform different functions depending on the customer’s need.
Configured using Cadmium Telluride, D3™ has the capability of detecting a broad range of radiation activity and sits at the core of Radiation Watch’s technology.
D3™ offers a unique and versatile platform that will maintain its accuracy and not become saturated regardless of the circumstance.
There are several key points to note about D3™ technology:
- The Detector architecture is semiconductor-based and therefore robust
- Real time energy information through wireless system architecture
- The architecture is flexible as there are a variety of readout ASICs and detector substrates
- Data transmission is through a variety of methods i.e. Bluetooth Wireless
- Sealed unit for anti-contamination
- Full system integration tools
